You will be happy to know that the hippopotamus is a distant relative of the pigs. "Hippopotamus" means "river horse". It lies in a slow-moving river during the day. Its eyes and ears are placed near the top of its head so that as much of its body as possible can remain underwater.

When it goes fully underwater, it closes its nostrils. And then at night hippopotamus leaves the river and goes to the feeding ground to eat grass.

Hippos are plant eater. They eat grass and chew it up with large grinding teeth. The male hippopotamus has long tusk-like canine teeth that they use for fighting.
